Our Founder And CEO

Akinfe Fatou (she/her/hers) is a social impact entrepreneur, visual artist, storyteller, thought leader, equity strategist, and a disability advocate whose mission is to support individuals and organizations in their journey to become more equitable, accessible, and inclusive. Her intersecting marginalized identities as a queer, non-binary Black woman with disabilities has inspired and grounded her work. She possesses a master’s degree from Howard University and a master’s degree from New York University (NYU).

Akinfe has also worked in direct care and leadership roles serving people with disabilities for more than 20 years and has dedicated her career to prioritizing people with multiply marginalized identities. Her cross-sector creative and social justice work spans across key policy areas including disability, mental health, housing advocacy, human rights, pleasure activism, LGBTQ+ advocacy, racial equity and diversity, equity, and inclusion (RE/DEI), healthcare, global/public health, media, and art preservation.

Akinfe is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cre8tive Cadence Consulting. She also serves as Chief Strategist for Health Justice – a premier health and racial equity consulting firm. She is an NYU mentor and a member of the National Association of Black Journalist, Diversability Leadership Collective, Black Women Photographers, Detroit Disability Power, and the Women’s Foreign Policy Group. Akinfe is a graduate fellow of The Watering Hole, “a southern-based vanguard for poetics and craft-building” led by and for poets of color. Her literary and visual art appears in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA PS1) Magazine, Huffington Post, Go Magazine, Curve Magazine, Sinister Wisdom Literary/Art Journal, Poets & Writers Magazine, Blavity, Standing Our Ground Global Anthology: Poems for Trayvon Martin and Marissa Alexander, and The Wire Magazine.
